Church Leadership

J. David Atwater

Pastor

Rev. Jefferson David (Dave) Atwater became Antioch’s pastor in March 2006 following a thirty-year career as a Navy chaplain. He knows both our church and community well, having grown up on a family farm outside Carrboro, attended Antioch throughout his youth, and graduated from Chapel Hill High School.

His professional education includes studies at Mars Hill College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Salve Regina College. Pastor Atwater served two churches in North Carolina before his active-duty military experience with the Navy and Marine Corps. David and his wife Judy have two children and four grandchildren.

At Antioch, Pastor Atwater’s primary interest is helping each person, regardless of age or background, discover the special role God intends for them as modern-day disciples and equipping them to carry out Jesus’ Great Commission. He also desires to strengthen Antioch’s role as an intergenerational church with a special concern for family and community.

“We need each other,” he says. “And it’s no accident that the Bible tells us that God ‘sets the solitary in families.’ Working together, we can make a real difference in our little part of the world. Not incidentally, that’s also the best way to find real happiness and fulfillment.”

We are blessed by God to have Pastor Dave leading our church family, challenging us through God’s Word to grow in understanding, discipleship, and love for Christ and for one another.

Regina Kleiman

Administrative Assistant

Regina Kleiman and her family have called North Carolina home for the past thirteen years. After spending the past seventeen years as a stay-at-home mom, Regina is excited to begin a new chapter serving as the Administrative Assistant at Antioch Baptist Church.

Before starting her family, Regina worked in several fields, including credit card fraud prevention for an online retailer, as a FedEx courier and dispatcher, and as a clerk for the Kentucky Court of Appeals. These experiences have given her a diverse background in organization, communication, administration, and working with people.

Regina grew up in Kentucky in a Southern Baptist family and later converted to Catholicism before marrying her husband, Greg. Regina and her family currently attend St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Regina and Greg have two daughters, Liesel and Hazel, who attend Burlington Christian Academy. Their family also includes Todd, their French Bulldog, who keeps everyone entertained and demands plenty of attention!

Outside of work, Regina enjoys spending time with her daughters and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals. She remains hopeful that this will finally be their year!

2 Timothy 4:2
“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
