The Ten Commandments are found in Exodus 20:2-17. They were given by God to the children of Israel shortly after Moses delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These were the laws given by God to the Israelites. They were a blessing to the Israelites at the time they were given, and they can be a blessing to us also if we open our heart to God’s leading and study His Word with our whole heart. \u201c2\u00a0<\/sup>I am the Lord<\/span> your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. <\/span>3 <\/sup>Do not have other gods besides Me.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

1st Commandment: No Other Gods<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“4\u00a0<\/sup>Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. <\/span> 5\u00a0<\/sup>You must not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord<\/span> your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers\u2019 sin, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, <\/span> 6\u00a0<\/sup>but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commands.<\/span>”<\/p>\n

2nd Commandment: The Biggest Problem in the Bible<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c7\u00a0<\/sup>Do not misuse the name of the Lord<\/span> your God, because the Lord<\/span> will not leave anyone unpunished who misuses His name.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

3rd Commandment: Taking God Seriously<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c8\u00a0<\/sup>Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: <\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>You are to labor six days and do all your work, <\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord<\/span> your God. You must not do any work\u2014you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates. <\/span> 11\u00a0<\/sup>For the Lord<\/span> made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord<\/span> blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.<\/span>“<\/span><\/p>\n

4th Commandment: God’s Unrecognized Blessing<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c12\u00a0<\/sup>Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord<\/span> your God is giving you.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

5th Commandment: Society’s Building Blocks<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c13\u00a0<\/sup>Do not murder.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

6th Commandment: Respecting Life<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c14\u00a0<\/sup>Do not commit adultery.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

7th Commandment: The Importance of Faithfulness<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“15\u00a0<\/sup>Do not steal.<\/span>”<\/p>\n

8th Commandment: Don’t Sell Yourself Short<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c16\u00a0<\/sup>Do not give false testimony against your neighbor.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

9th Commandment: Commanded To Tell the Truth<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c17\u00a0<\/sup>Do not covet your neighbor\u2019s house. Do not covet your neighbor\u2019s wife, his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n
