Our Mission Projects:

 
Ronald McDonald House - on the 4th Thursday of each month Antioch will be preparing the evening meal for the residents of the House.   This meal provides a little touch of home cooking with lots TLC for
parents and children during their stay.  To assist in the preparation of the meal, contact the church office or Robin Farrell.

August's Projects
 
1.  Ronald McDonald meal-August 26th.  If you would like to assist please contact the church office or Robin Farrell.
 
2.  Baptist Campus Ministry-August 26th Antioch will be providing a meal to the UNC students first meeting of the school year. 
 
3.  Project Clean-up for the kitchen at the Baptist Campus Ministry house will be scheduled in August.  Date and time to be announced.  We will clean and organize the kitchen area before the students return.
 
4.  S.O.S.--Share Our Shoes is a non-profit organization in Raleigh that collects gently used shoes. SOS distributes the shoes all over the world in addition to the  local communities.  Check your closets for shoes you no longer wear but are in good condition and donate to those without shoes.  All sizes, all styles, boy, girl, men or women, shoes are needed for everyone in all situations.  Final collection date is August 22nd.  Collection boxes will be in the Visitor's Center in the back of the Sanctuary and in the hallway between the Educational Building and Sanctuary.  If there are questions please see Robin Farrell.

Missions from 2009....

In addition to participating in missions worldwide through donations to the “cooperative program,” we were involved in numerous local projects over the past year.  These included:

 

● Preparing and serving a meal to students at the Carolina Baptist Campus Ministry at their first meetings in August and January. 

● Offering housewarming gifts for new neighbors moving into our community

● Collecting donations of canned goods and personal items for Orange Congregations in Mission

● Donating items for new baby layettes to be distributed through the Mt. Zion Baptist Associational Office to area hospitals and to the Health Department

● Assisting with the Alamance/Orange Prison Ministry Birthday Party in March of each year

● Collecting toys for the Alamance/Orange Prison Ministry Toy Store, which allows prisoners to present their children a gift on Family Day during the Christmas season

● Collecting gift items for the Mount Zion Baptist Association to present at the Women’s Department of Correction inmates

● Collecting donations for “Prison Match” (Mothers and their children) of NC to assist the children with cost associated with travel to visit their mothers (i.e.  gas cards, frequent flyer miles, fast food coupon books, postage stamps, gift cards for supplies and birthday gifts)

● Preparing shoe boxes of gift items for needy children throughout the world as part of the Franklin Graham “Samaritan’s Purse” ministry

● Collecting gift items and preparing gift bags for a local senior living center

● Participating in the “Relay for Life” to raise funds for cancer research

● Preparing and serving monthly meals to the residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill on the 4th Thursday of each month

Collection and donation of new pajamas and new or gently loved books to Pajama Pals.  Pajama Pals is a non profit charity that donates pajamas and books to children in need.

● Hosting an annual “senior citizens banquet”

Collection and donation of food, furniture, and household items to Siloam Missionary Homes.  Siloam Missionary Homes provides housing to missionaries on furlough)
● Collecting coats to benefit children who are in need of a coat but cannot afford one

● Christmas projects for needy families
