About our Administrative Assistant

Mayling Blackwood

In addition to her B.S. degree in nursing from New York University, and a M.A. in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina, Mayling Blackwood brings a wealth of training, insight and “people skills” to her role as Administrative Assistant.  She has served as director of the student health center for a reservation school in Arizona, as program assistant and later assistant dean of the “Oxford Experience” in England, and as a health/science teacher at the New Century Charter High School in Chapel Hill. Her range of activities is equally impressive, including teaching ballroom dancing, assistance in off-Broadway productions, supervising preparation of meals at a soup kitchen in New York, and coordination of photography and graphic assignments for an on-line publication at UNC. Those who have the pleasure of working with her at Antioch can vouch for the fact that her superb organizational and administrative skills make the job look effortless.  Above all, however, they can attest that she is unfailingly humble, polite, and caring – a daily testimony to her strong Christian faith!  She and her husband, Kelly, currently reside near Carrboro, NC.
